So, I think maybe it would be cool to add another slot to our characters.  That would be pets/familiars/followers whatever you think is best.  I know I like to get all the pets in most games I play, at the very least for completionist reasons.  Idk how the pets would be introduced and how you would get them and if older sets would be able to have them added in.  I suppose since there aren't very many set bonuses they could be added with similar color pattern and call it good.

This is something I thought about when perusing the specialty store thinking, what if CK added new items to the store.  More on another post.

Hows it going, and have fun.

Yeah, it's a recurring theme (smiley) It's something I really like the idea of, but the implementation details are hard to bring into focus. There are almost too many possibilities with them.

Just having them as an item slot is easy, but that will quickly become insufficient. There are factors such as:
  • Should they have health?
  • Can they gain experience, level up?
  • Should they be upgradable? Fed?
  • Can they be used in battle directly, instead of pa**ively as an item?
  • Can they be left on a map when not used, like an NPC?
  • Is the item just a container like a Pokeball, encapsulating the actual creature within? I'd almost prefer this if we want to pretend it's an item, as then you can trade them in their containers via normal trading/armoury mechanisms, plus they can be dropped and abandoned on maps.
So in summary, I'm completely on board with the idea of pets, but I can't just "add pets" without having a clear plan of minimum viable implementation and where it may go in the future (smiley)

Ooooh yes the pokemon path is something I had not imagined when posting this, but who doesn't love pokemon.  Obviously the balls and creatures would have to be named something different for copyright reasons, but still there's quite a few games that utilize that kind of mechanic, and it's most often fun that way.

Possibly we could have a "PC" like in pokemon that stores all the ones you're not using.

Health might be a good idea, but then I suppose in the actual battles maybe there would be two lines one for the player and one for their pet for damage numbers.  Not sure how the damage to the player would be divided, or maybe the pets would be essentally invulnerable?  I do think that they should be more than just stats for the player now that you bring it up.

The thing I'm not sure about is where the graphics would come from.  Maybe you have someone in mind to obtain graphics from?

I think a big thing though would be to just have those "pokemon" just appear randomly in a world and disappear as well.  Does not seem good to have them be there forever, because it's possible they would fill up worlds if no one is looking.

I think also the buy/sell/trade should be an option and if having the pokeball for them to reside in makes that easier then go for it.

Hows it going, and have fun.
